Become A Certified Notary
If you are not yet certified as a notary signing agent you may want to consider the certification process by the National Notary Association (NNA). Their seminars are conducted in many cities nationwide, and you may even be able to enroll in a course online. For all other states we have compiled a list of state agencies that are responsible for the commissioning of notaries public. In most states, it’s the Secretary of State, who commissions notaries.
These are great places to start your research to learn what it takes to become a notary public in your particular state, how to renew your commission or if you have questions about local rules for notaries public. You will also be able to find out if your particular state uses escrow companies and notaries for home mortgage/real estate closings (signing agent notary), or if those transactions will be performed by an attorney.
